Liz J. Pratt

Hi! I’m Liz.

I’m an independent flavor specialist.

My mission is simple: to ensure that every product that leaves your facility tastes exactly the way it’s meant to.

I help beverage and food brands identify off-notes, monitor flavor, and train teams to manage sensory quality—whether you make beer, soda, or anything in between.

From troubleshooting to program design, I build systems that are practical and effective, supporting consistent quality, recipe development, and innovation.

I’ve led production teams in high-pressure environments and know how hard it is to implement sensory on a busy floor. But I also know how essential it is. When done right, it’s not just possible—it’s transformative.

 What I Do

My role bridges technical expertise with practical training to maintain brand integrity and support continuous improvement in flavor quality across production lines.

A sensory program isn’t just about getting a thumbs-up from management. It’s the practice of using the five senses to evaluate how people actually experience a product—and then using that data to guide smart, informed decisions about product release, shelf life, process adjustments, and innovation.

I’ve worked as a flavor specialist for one of the world’s largest flavor houses, trained sensory panels at small breweries, and led operations as Production Manager at a major brewery in Amsterdam. This breadth of experience helps me design sensory systems that are practical, adaptable, and enjoyable—built to serve your team, your product, and your timeline.

Testimonials

"Before we hired Liz, our sensory program was fledgling. We were tasting blindly and lacking purpose. With intentionality, Liz gave our program the direction it needed and brought it to a whole new level. She implemented a robust true to brand program, taught our panel to identify flavor characteristics and beer flaws, and set up a user friendly system for us to track our sensory progress and data. She left us with attainable goals, and most importantly the tools/skills to achieve them. I can now say, thanks to Liz, we really know our beer."

- Merritt Waldron, Director of Quality Control, Rising Tide Brewing Company

“[Liz is] very well spoken, personable, and approachable. Great data collection notes. Gave confidence to people to begin sensory program, very encouraging!”

- Student, Brewing and Malting Science Course, Master Brewers Association of the Americas
